Road Trips

installations and collages

These works were made to be as immediate as possible, being pinned directly to the wall. Magazine advertisements have been altered in various ways including collage, the addition of text, and having the text roughly cut out. I am interested in attenuating the way in which marketing provokes consumption through associations with nature, power, status and recreation.

Nature Lover, 2006,dimensions variable: approx. 48 x 60," installation of magazine advertisements and labelmaker text, which reads: "In the last year, several people that I know bought or built houses in what had until recently been woods, thereby contributing to sprawl. When I asked them why they had done so, they replied that it was because they liked nature.")
